Jaguar
F-Type leaked image
We all knew the upcoming Jaguar F-Type would closely resemble the C-X16 concept shown at the 2011 Frankfurt auto show (in coupe form), and Jaguar hasn't exactly been shy about trotting the production F-Type out for appearances. But until now, it has always been clad in camouflage.
The image was dropped onto Facebook by spy photographer Chris Doane with the caption, "Something interesting just popped up in my inbox..." Indeed, Mr. Doane, something did.
While the details are closely tied to the C-X16--nearly identical, in fact, especially at the front end--there's something about the finished production version's styling that doesn't meld quite as well as the concept. Perhaps it's the absence of the coupe's roof in the three roadsters shown here.
Whatever it is, however, it's not a big deal--the F-Type looks good. It also looks rather compact for a modern Jaguar, and that, to us, equates to fun--provided Jag got the mechanical details right. Given what we already know about the F-Type, we tend to think they have.
What do you think? Is the F-Type's design, now freed from its camo prison, a success? Or is it just another variation on Jaguar's modern theme--nice, but nothing special?
We'll have more information and details on the F-Type soon, including live photos and coverage from the 2012 Paris Auto Show, so stay tuned.
